Even if you don’t have a sense of connection with Spirit, a spiritual director can help you discern and discover the ways in which you connect with others and the world around you.

Spiritual directors (also referred to as spiritual companions)* listen, ask questions, and offer compassion to others in one-on-one or group settings. Contrary to the implication, spiritual directors do not “direct.” Instead, they rely on your own understanding of Spirit (God, Allah, Buddha, Universe, Nature, Divine Mystery, or however you name the ground of all being) and facilitate “holy meandering” as you discern your own spiritual path. Even if you don’t have a sense of connection with Spirit, a spiritual director can help you discern and discover the ways in which you connect with others and the world around you.

In 2021, I completed a nine-month spiritual direction training practicum through the Mind & Spirit Counseling Center. Previously, I completed a two-year training program in the Art of Spiritual Direction through the Spirations Institute for Interspiritual Formation.

My intent as a spiritual director / companion is to walk alongside others, offering a safe space of nonjudgmental acceptance and open listening where they can explore the unfolding of their sacred stories and discover the wisdom that lies within.

While I welcome a wide range of clients, I work primarily with female survivors of trauma who have done the initial hard work of healing and are not in crisis. They sense another layer of healing is possible, but not necessarily through counseling. Instead, they seek a nonjudgmental space of deep listening where they can explore their questions and make meaning of their life experiences, or discover insights related to their spirituality. I also work with women in transition, whether it’s because of children going off to school or college, job or career changes, a death in the family, or other life events. Together, we dance with the deep questions of life.

I was baptized Catholic, took First Communion in the Episcopal Church, got married in the Methodist Church, and am currently a member of a progressive and inclusive faith community. I consider myself an ecumenical, progressive Christian who believes there are unlimited paths to the Divine Presence.

I offer online or in-person sessions. Contact me HERE if you’re interested in scheduling a FREE initial session to explore whether spiritual companionship is right for you.

The Breathing Room Blog

The Breathing Room is a place where readers can slow down, step away from the chaos of their lives for a few minutes, and, hopefully, find a place of respite and connection.

In this space, I’ll share about the process of writing my memoir, journaling as a spiritual practice and a "way in" to sharing our stories with others, and what I've learned ― and am still learning ― about healing after trauma. Along the way, I'll sprinkle in stories about Paris and my travels to other places around the world.

I invite you to take a deep breath and join me.
